A high school teacher from The Bronx has been arrested on federal child pornography charges for allegedly trading videos featuring young boys in sexual situations on the dark web.
Jonathan Schweitzer, 41, who has taught earth science at Belmont Preparatory High School since 2008, was taken into custody at his home in The Bronx early Wednesday.
Federal agents first learned of Schweitzer while investigating child pornography online, reported ABC 7 NY.

According to law enforcement officials, the veteran educator was caught swapping videos depicting boys having sex with older men and each other.
Schweitzer allegedly stored the pornographic content on his home computer and on his laptop.
He has been charged with possession of, receipt, and distribution of child pornography.

ShareThe New York City Department of Education released a statement calling the allegations against Schweitzer 'disturbing and saddening.'
‘Mr. Schweitzer was immediately removed from the classroom away from students,’ department spokesman Douglas Cohen said. ‘We will remove him from payroll and seek to fire him as soon as legally possible.’
As a teacher, Schweitzer had never faced disciplinary actions.
Belmont Preparatory High School has around 400 students in grades 9-12.
